An unexpected location change meant the championship game was played at MLK School as opposed to the usual JFK location. The MLK gym was certainly bigger and a bit nicer since we didn't have to worry about being on tippy toes or out of bounds in order to hit a corner 3... but there was a nice vibe in the the JFK gym if you ask me. Regardless, the final was exactly what I thought it would be. Close from start to finish and both teams were balling out, getting pretty even contributions all around. Jack S finished as the leading scorer with 16 points and for TAP, Nick P had 14. It was JP early on but he quickly got into foul trouble and the Chups needed some other guys to step up. Jack S and Shae got hot from 3 to keep the Chups in the game. JP hit a clutch three at the end of regulation and then in the OT it was Jack S who came up with the clutch bucket for the lead with only a few seconds left. TAP had a chance to win it and ended up getting a good look from about 15 feet out, but the ball rimmed out and the Chups emerged victorious. A fantastic battle from the two best teams in the league that ended with the usual drama the CAC provides. Chups win the championship, 52-51

Not sure if it was the defense, or if people had the jitters, or maybe TAP was really missing Adam Chen, but they were OFF. Completely off their game. Thankfully for TAP, Himmy Turner was completely off their game as well. They had a hobbled Johnny O and were missing their sniper with Matt out for the night. Both teams couldn't buy a basket and the score at halftime between two of the best offenses in the league was 13-11. I had no idea what was going on. Thankfully the game was close! Offenses started to get going in the 2nd half as the Nick and Steve 2-man game was proving to be unstoppable. And on the other end, the usual 3-point barrage took place for Himmy Turner, with Gabe shooting a perfect 5-5 from deep. The game came down to the wire, but TAP used their experience to make just a few more plays than Himmy Turner and secured their matchup with the Chups in what will be an incredible final.

Both teams were missing key players since Doug and JP were out and this game ended up going down to the wire in a thriller. However, although the game was very entertaining, it will go down as one of the more erroneous games i've seen. The Market Baskets shot 6-19 from the FT line in a 1 point loss.... That's pretty frustrating for their players. Some late turnovers and missed shots from the line ultimately cost them a spot in the championship. On the other end, credit where credit is due, the Chups rolled with the punches and took the game by the neck when needed. A great scoring effort from Shae, Chuck and Jack S was enough for the Chups to book their place in the championship. Chups win 55-54
