The first comeback game of the night was won by Los Market Baskets as they found their groove in the second half despite being down 11 points at the half.

Although Los Market Baskets had the first bucket of the night, The Unreliables quickly went up by 11 points with an overhead behind-the-back pass from John Lamb connected with Eric Fleming to make it 3 back-to-back 3’s in a row. LMB then went on a run of their own going 2-10 to make it a 13-20 game. First half ends, 21-32.

The second half was heavy for shots from LMB, going 4 for 7 from beyond the arc and Ethan Walko knocking down 18 points of the 27-point second-half effort, effectively winning them the game. The final score was 48-44.

WE HAVE FUN started with 4 players but thankfully finished out with 5 despite a loss to Los Market Baskets.

Nothing was connecting for WE HAVE FUN, a theme of the night for the losing teams. Jaylen Medina finally found the bucket beyond the perimeter after going 0-6, 29-42.

Having more players helped LMB with the win as WHF started to face the fatigue of only playing with 5 players vs a team that had ample rest time with 9 players. Ultimately LMB ended on top, 36-57.

Los Market Baskets gets handed its 5th loss in a row giving them a record of 1-6 with 3 weeks until playoffs start while SAUS is in the top half of the standings sitting pretty.

LMB drops to 6-13 in the first 6 minutes forcing them to call an early timeout. This gave enough time for Doug Walko to make it to the game late but better than ever as he ended the game with 10 of the 36 points for LMB, 8 of which came from the first half.

LMB went on a late run 7-0 run at the end of the first half to make it 20-28. Despite the attempt at a comeback, it just wasn’t enough to beat 3-point machine John Capin who tallied 24 of his 26 points of perimeter shots going 8 for 14 for the night.

I’m glad my writeup last week sparked a fire under the Lab’s bench as they took down Los Market Baskets who are on a losing streak, 49-54.

LMB scored the first points of the game with 1/2 of the Walko duo (Ethan) making his 1st triple after three attempts, 3-11. The other Walko, Doug, drove to the rim to make the layup, 11-23 with 10 minutes left in the half. The Walko to Walko connection was on fire tonight as all of Ethan’s assists were to Doug but the two just couldn’t overcome the deficit created in the first couple minutes of the game.

Despite LMB tying and then taking their first lead of the game, Colin Eddy later made a triple to pad their lead 47-52. Final score: 49-54.

Though Los Market Baskets were supposed to be the top dog of this game with the higher rank and depth in the bench, they just couldn’t find their footing against Lexington Steals, 40-53.

Once Jack Howland had 2 fouls in the opening minute of the first half, it was downhill from there. Mike Johnson of LS proved this by snatching the rock out of Los MB’s hands under their basket to make the bucket, 6-18.  As Los MB were trailing 10-24 with 3 minutes left before the half buzzer, they went on a 7-3 run with the first half score 17-27.

LMB started the second half strong with Nick Perkins making a triple to make it a 3pt game, 30-33. The offense was led by Ethan Walko this half who had 11 of the 23 points
