Big Baller Brand did not play the way they have been playing the last few weeks to settle them into the seeded spot they were in.

SAUS organized and shut down Austin Masel well as he only had 10 points in the book. Sean Hill seemed virtually nonexistent with 5 points and missing both FTs. Sean Mullaney was the hope but after picking up his third foul he took himself out for a few minutes, losing the heat of his run.

Gino Time almost was bested by a tough SAUS team, 43-56.

Gino Time started the first half very vocal while SAUS was as quiet as can be. A deep triple by John Capin makes it 16-13 with 11 minutes left in the half. Max McKee ties at 16 each. Kevin Toth puts the game within 1 point, 21-22.  Capin then went on to make both FTs and took the lead again for the last time, 23-22.

The second half seemed to be the opposite of the first in terms of team communication. SAUS became very vocal and communicated each switch on defense with ease while GT seemed to be getting lost and being quiet on defense. Luckily for them, they made it out on top ending a perfect run of the regular season and putting them as the heavy favorites for champions.

The second game of the night was not as close of a matchup as bench-backed Big Baller Brand outscored a bench-less SAUS, 72-42.

It started as a fairly evenly matched game with SAUS contesting heavily for the 50-50 balls and making their shots. Towards the end of the first half, it was noticeable that SAUS was getting tired, lazy, and not following their shots. Ryan O’Rourke of BBB steals the ball to make the layup, 20-15 with 3 minutes left in the half.  Russ Verzino hits the buzzer triple to make the halftime score 32-22.

BBB started to take off as they padded a 20-point lead with 10 minutes left in the game. Cameron McCann finally hits his first and only 3 of the night, 37-54. McCann went 1 for 13 from downtown, his worst night of the season by far.

The first OT in a while ended with The Lab on top of SAUS, 49-54.

The game was close through and through. A 1 point difference at the half previewed a closer second half. A big block by Matt McKinley on Chin Kuo’s shot but Kuo immediately got the ball back and connected with the bucket, 36-41. Toth came in clutch with a DEEP triple with 1:30 left in the game to tie it up at 46. A 3-8 scoring run over OT gave The Lab the win.
