And then there was 1, they did it congrats:

Coming into this game I had The Spice Channel (TSC) as a 1 point favorite. Either team could win this game though and Emmanuel Mentality (EM) was definitely a worthy opponent that deserved to be in this game.

First half:

The first team/person to score in this game was TSC/Chas with a driving layup. I think I need to track the stat of who scores first vs who wins.  This by no means signified the game as being over though as 5 minutes into the game TSC was up 6-4.  While EM was continuing to battle, they were never able to take a lead or even tie the game.  With 11:43 left in the half TSC was up 11-8.  With 8:06 left in the half TSC was up 13-10.  With 3:43 left in the half TSC was up 19-15.  Lastly at the end of the half TSC was up 27-22.

Halftime stats:

TSC:

Tommy Ng 3 pts (1-1 from three)

John Harding 11 pts (1-5 from three) (2-2 from the free throw line), 1 oreb, 2 drebs, 5 asts, 1 foul

Chas Belliveau 4 pts (0-2 from three), 3 orebs, 1 dreb, 1 ast, 2 fouls

Djordje Vlajkovic 3 pts (1-4 from the free throw line), 1 stl, 2 orebs, 5 drebs, 2 stls, 1 foul

Michael Fraher 6 pts, 1 oreb

Alan Orellana 2 stls, 1 ast, 1 foul

EM:

Jorge Morel 2 pts (0-1 from three), 1 stl, 1 oreb, 2 drebs, 1 foul

Steve Rakusin 0-1 from three

Charlie Maneval 1 pt (0-1 from three) (1-2 from the free throw line), 1 dreb

James Mulvehill 5 pts (1-2 from three), 1 stl, 1 oreb, 3 drebs

Emmanuel Okharedia 12 pts (2-5 from three), 1 dreb, 2 asts

Andrew Marra 2 pts (0-1 from three) 1 oreb

Player of the half:

John Harding

Second half:

I’ll continue to stress that EM never gave up and continued to battle despite being down 31-25 with 15 minutes left in the game, then with 10 minutes left down 39-32 and even with 5:48 left they were down 46-36.  For the next 5 minutes or so EM went on a run and were only down 50-47 with about 44 seconds left in the game..  Being unable to tie it they were forced to foul. Chas converted 1 free throw and EM had several opportunities to score but weren’t successful.  After taking a timeout and having none left EM was down 51-47 with only 7.7 seconds left.  James did covert a corner three before the buzzer and resulting in a TSC championship game win 51-50.

Player Grades:

Tommy Ng A some say the three point shot he made was after a travel.  I disagree and it was a huge shot which ultimately helped his team win the game.

John Harding A was once again the best player on the floor helping his team win it all as was the case all season long.

Chas Belliveau B didn’t make a three but his 2 steals more than made up for that.  He made a game winning free throw.  Overall though he hung his hat on the defensive end and just played smart on offense.

Djordje Vlajkovic A- I can’t ignore his free throw shooting percentage but overall he was dominant.  The pick and roll game with Harding was unstoppable and he controlled the glass.

Michael Fraher B knocked down some jumpers efficiently and managed to get some rebounds too.  He as was the case for most of the season took advantage of his opportunities.

Alan Orellana A wasn’t completely healthy but still made a big impact on the game on the defensive end.  He didn’t play much but still had a positive performance.

Jorge Morel B his rebounding was great and he even scored decently around the rim.  Missed a couple of threes but he gave it all he had and hopefully his late game injury doesn’t carry over into next season.

Steve Rakusin C I’m shocked he didn’t do more but despite not putting up many stats, he still played ok.

Charlie Maneval C his free throw shooting was ok but he was 0fer from three.  I’m use to him playing better and his team definitely needed more from him today.

James Mulvehill A actually played extremely well.  Was the best player on the floor for his team.  Did everything just unfortunately for him it wasn’t enough.

Emmanuel Okharedia B I think he played good it just obviously wasn’t enough.  Maybe it was fatigue from guarding Harding all game I’m not sure but he did still have a good game.  He obviously has played better games during the season so I couldn’t go too high in a team loss.

MVP: John Harding

Regular season MVP, followed up by a championship and finals MVP.  This was really a dominant season by @johnnyhoops.  He went a perfect 10-0 in games he played in this season.  Will that streak continue or stop next season?  Only one way to find out https://cacbasketball.playbookapi.com/programs/more_info/class_package/27062/

Subject: Spice Channel is championship-bound in blowout victory over # 3 seed.

After the 48-point explosion by Chris Lynch the previous week, I was hoping for a more competitive matchup, but Spice Channel had other plans as they dominated this matchup from start to finish.

Their team defense was stifling, per usual. Aside from Nick who finished with 19 points, District 10 struggled offensively for most of the game. Led by DJ (14 points) and Harding (19) who combined for 33 of their 47 first-half points, TSC was operating on all cylinders.

TSC would go into the half leading by 15 (47 - 32) with the momentum clearly on their side.

THE SPICE CHANNEL'S

  • Tommy Ng: 6 Points
  • John Harding: 19 Points
  • Chas Belliveau: 2 Points
  • Djordje Vlajkovic: 14 Points
  • Michael Fraher: 4 Points
  • Alan Orellana: 0 Points

DISTRICT 10'S ROSTER

  • Neil Aggarwal: 0 Points
  • Colin Gray: 0 Points
  • Patrick Blaikie: 3 Points
  • Nick Lynch: 19 Points
  • Daniel Lyman: 2 Points
  • Chris Lynch: 8 Points

The second half wouldn’t be any kinder to District 10, as the TSC lead would balloon to as much as 20, as they showed no signs of slowing down, Chas would score 7 of his 11 points, to go along with a monster stat line (i.e., 3 steals, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists)! Big Gunz hit a couple of daggers, to halt a couple of D10 comeback attempts.

John was incredible with another 30+ outburst, as they closed out this victory and secured their trip to finals!

THE SPICE CHANNEL'S

  • Tommy Ng: Big Gunz is built for this shit! I know he’s fired up for Saturday! He missed a couple of shots, but found his stroke when it mattered the most! Let’s FG!
  • John Harding: He’s a problem, that no team in this league has been able to solve! Another 30+ victory, and he made it look easy.
  • Chas Belliveau: continue to be the emotional leader for this team. His impact on this team goes beyond the state sheet and this was another impressive outing for him.
  • Djordje Vlajkovic: DJ had a monster game, to say the least. He finished with 16 points and 17 rebounds, but his defense on both Lynch’s was where his biggest impact came.
  • Michael Fraher: Ghost had a tough shooting game, which is a good thing for TSC. One thing I can assure you of, he won’t miss those shots next week. EM has been put on notice. Don’t let that man shoot.
  • Alan Orellana: AO looked like me and Ruff out there, old. All joking aside, I know he’s still recovering from his injury. It’s nice to see him back out there.

DISTRICT 10'S ROSTER

  • Neil Aggarwal: Neil didn’t make a huge impact on the game, but it was nice to see him in attendance. He’s made a commitment to getting in shape during our offseason, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
  • Colin Gray: had a pretty tough game adjusting to the smothering defense from TSC. He was able to produce at the usual level, but still worked his ass off.
  • Patrick Blaikie: shot the ball well from deep. He was effective and efficient in limited opportunities. I know he was thrilled with the way this season ended, but I look for him to do great things has he takes the reigns as an SDL captain.
  • Nick Lynch: did everything well, except shoot the ball well from deep. I don’t think you could ask for any more from the big fellas.
  • Daniel Lyman: made the best of his limited opportunities, showing some nifty post-moves around the basket, when matched up against the smaller Ng.
  • Chris Lynch: like many others on his team, Chris struggled offensively. It wasn’t due to effort, but the defense was just too much for Chris and D10 to overcome.

Subject: Spice Channel continues its dominance against undermanned HARRIOTT'S OF FIRE

When DP entered the gym in a soft cast, we all knew it was going to be a long 40 minutes for HOF. Despite the absence of their best player, HOF led by Rob Wood came out gunning. Rob who scored 16 first-half points, scored their first 8 points. Ghost matched his production, scoring Spice Channel's first 8 points with a barrage of midrange jumpers and some nifty hook shots.

At times, the 5”7ish Stull did a fantastic job defending Ghost, which was pretty unexpected but with 6”5 Ghost and DJ, HOF was at a considerable size disadvantage and needed someone to step up and Stull was that guy!

Despite being the obvious underdogs, HOF would into the half with a 6-point advantage (30 - 24). Led by DTO’s 12 points and Wood’s 16 points, they were prepared to shock the world, as DP’s sideline coaching was clearly motivating his guys.

Spice Channel

  • Tommy Ng: 5 points
  • Djordje Vlajkovic: 8 points
  • MICHAEL Fraher: 8 points
  • Alan Orellana: 3 points

HARRIOTT'S OF FIRE

  • Christopher Stull: 2 points
  • Robert Wood: 16 points
  • David Ter-Ovanesyan: 12 points
  • Jamie Harriott: 0 points

Despite HOF’s first-half momentum, the second half would be all about the # 1 seed Spice Channel, as they would go on a 49 - 26 game-deciding run. Led by 25 second-half points Djordje HOF never stood a chance. DJ finished with 33 points, 35 rebounds, and 2 blocks, which is absolutely ridiculous.

AO would get in on the fun with a triple-double of his own, 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists! All 4 Spice Channel Players would achieve double figures (Ng 13, AO 11, DJ 33, and Ghost 16), as they won this game running away.

Spice Channel

  • Tommy Ng: 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists! Big Gunz was doing Big Guz shit!
  • Djordje Vlajkovic: 33 points, 35 rebounds, and a very questionable dunk attempt. I’d say he did his job.
  • MICHAEL Fraher: 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists. Ghost played very well.
  • Alan Orellana: 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists! Seems to making great progress in his return from the IR with a triple-double!

HARRIOTT'S OF FIRE

  • Christopher Stull: Didn’t shoot the ball well, but played a fantastic all-around game including grabbing 9 rebounds and dishing 2 assists.
  • Robert Wood: Finished with 25 points and played with outstanding efficiency.
  • David Ter-Ovanesyan: Had his best offensive game of the season. It was really nice to see him bounce back from his recent struggles.
  • Jamie Harriott: The newly crowned dad stuffed the stat sheet! Congrats bro!
