With the second game of the night Consigli Versus Hacream Thabeet. Consigli being the underdog once again came out hooping. For a team that is a 7th seed, they could have easily been a 1st or 2nd seed if everyone on the team showed up every week to play. Consigli played a 2-3 zone, which was very effective against Hacream Thabeet, they had trouble getting the ball inside the paint for layups. They also got into foul trouble early, having 4 fouls in just 4 minutes. Jack on Consigli played a very impressive first half, scoring 14 out of the 24 points for Consigli. Jack was able to pretty much get anywhere he wanted to on the court, driving in, pull up mid ranges, it was all too easy for him. The 1st half ended with 24-15 with Consigli leading.

In the second half, Consigli went on a huge run, pushing everything down the floor, getting offensive rebounds, and moving the ball and having their big man work the paint. A lot of the key components were them feeding the post and cleaning up on missed layups. Hacream Thabeet began to struggle offensively as the lead grew larger. They were rushing shots, turning the ball over, and settling for the 3-pointers and not working the ball inside the paint. Consigli was able to pull off yet another upset

Consigli

Jack M: Season High 23 points and 10 rebounds. A nice double-double to advance them to the finals.

Hacream Thabeet

Simon F: 10 points 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

The last but not least McBucket of Nuggets versus Hacream Thabeet. With Hacream Thabeet’s leading scorer out, Devin Q averaging 16.6 points and 9.1 rebounds a game, I didn’t know what to expect, but the team looked better without him. They started the first half hot. Everyone on the team was moving the ball around, cutting, off-ball screening, and finding the open man. It was a great game to watch.

Hacream Thabeet went on a huge run, at one point they were up 25 points in the first half, 27-12 with 11 minutes into the game. However, McBucket of Nuggets started making a comeback, Chris and James were hitting 3’s, everyone on McBucket of Nuggets were cutting, getting passes into the paint and scoring. Hacream Thabeet definitely started slacking a little bit on defense because they had such a big lead. It was a high scoring half for both teams, the score was 38-26 with Hacream thabeet leading.

In the second half McBucket of Nuggets were able to bring the game back to single digits, breaking down their defense with passes. McBucket of Nuggets went on a run a run and were only down 6 points. However, they began to get tired without any subs, and that was when Hacream Thabeet started to push the ball faster down the court. McBucket of Nuggets weren’t able to get back on defense to set up and it allowed Hacream Thabeet to grow the lead even bigger. Almost everyone on Hacream Thabeet had a season high in points today. Andrew on Hacream Thabeet was hustling and finding the open man every time. He recorded a career high 10 assists and 5 steals. Nonetheless both teams played very well, but Hacream Thabeet was the better team tonight.

Brett B 14 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals.

Chris C 20 points and 4 made 3-pointers.

The last but not least Fast PP versus Hacream Thabeet. I thought the previous game before had a crazy buzzer beater, but this game was also insane. Both teams started the game off strong, just trading buckets back and forth. Moving the ball around, everyone getting touches before the shot went up in the first half. The first half of the game was super close, 20-21 with Hacream Thabeet winning by 1.

In the second half, Fast PP began to take the lead as Hacream Thabeet began to miss shots. Yudkovich on Fast PP was everywhere on the court, playing impressive defense. He had 5 steals all within the 2nd half of the game. Alex on Fast PP was beginning to get frustrated with the no calls from the refs as well. It looked like Hacream Thabeet began to fall apart as players began forcing unnecessary shots, dribbling into 2 defenders, and they weren’t passing the ball around as much as they did in the first half, given that they were only down 5 points with 4 minutes left in the game.

With a little of Devin’s pep talks, they were able to bring the game back to 36-36 with 21 seconds on the clock. A timeout was called by Hacream Thabeet at 9 seconds. With an inbounds pass to Simon, Simon dribbled to the middle, and shot a 3 pointer to take the lead. 39-36. Fast PP then called a timeout to stop the clock at 2.7 seconds. Fast PP needed a hail mary to send the game to OT. The ball was passed to Andrew, Andrew caught the ball at half court, dribbled, did a spin move and shot the ball near the volleyball line and the shot went in and out. It was a great shot attempt by Andrew. The final score was 39-36 Hacream Thabeet with the win. Zack on Fast PP finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Siva on Hacream Thabeet finished with 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 3-pointers. Simon finished with 3 points, 9 rebounds, and a game winner.

With the first game of the night. Hacream Thabeet Versus Consigli was an extremely slow start for both teams. The score was 0-0 for the first 5 minutes of the game until Hacream Thabeet made a layup. I think this is the lowest scoring first half I’ve seen in the corporate league. Both teams were displaying great moves and good ball movement however, nothing was going in for either team. Consigli was able to score their first bucket 16 minutes into the game. It was an off night for both teams considering at the end of the first half the score was 10-4 with Hacream Thabeet leading.

Going into the second half no one had made a 3 pointer yet until Devin finally made the first one in the start of the 2nd half. Both teams started to turn up in the second half absolutely balling. Hacream Thabeet scored 30 points in the second half and Consigli scored 28. The 2nd half of the game was definitely a game to watch, both teams were playing great basketball. The refs started to call a lot more violations and a lot more fouls, it made it really interesting to watch. At the end of the game, the score was 40-32 the win for Hacream Thabeet.

Moran on Consigli really tried to bring it back for his team, ending the game with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assist, and 2 steals. There was one play I remember, Moran had a clean Euro step between two defenders and scored. His teammate Zaimi also played great defense, gathering a total of 4 steals. Zaimi ended the game with 7 points and 4 offensive rebounds, and Zaimi is not the tallest guy on the court either. It was very impressive.

Devin in the 2nd half began shooting really well. Ending the game with 16 points, 4 made 3-pointers, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. One of the assists I remember he got the ball at the wing, did a jab step, drove in and did a hop step and passed the ball to Fran for a reverse layup. Devin also hit an insane sidestep 3-pointer as well. His teammate Fran also had a great game with 11 points and 7 rebounds. This was the first time I had seen Fran play, and he also had a clean play where he did a clean euro step for 2. It was a great game from both teams.
