Game two of the first round of the playoffs had the 3 Seed Kodra Kai taking on the 6th seed Rags to Riches, led by Skelley. Skelley would be shorthanded, missing Rich Cody. This would be a big loss for Skelley as scoring has been tough for his team and they could use the shooting Cody provides. Chas had everyone available and would look to put the clamps on R2R.
Jake started things off hot, scoring 8 unanswered points and R2R was out to an early 10-1 lead. Kielley and Worth added buckets and the lead ballooned to 15-1. Things were looking dire for Chas’ squad, who were not getting good looks on offense and passing up shots. Hammond got a three and a layup and Kodra added a layup to get Kodra Kai within striking distance. Chas was rallying his boys and Gilles had a big stretch off the bench, hitting two threes and R2R’s lead was down to 5. Things would be back and forth down to the end of the half and R2R went into half time up 31-27. Jake led all scorers with 12 first half points.
Coming out of the break Chas nailed a three and Jake and Worth added buckets. Hammond added 5 straight to tie the game. Kodra Kai was doing a good job attacking the rim and getting R2R’s wing defenders in foul trouble. After a Sydorko three, Kodra Kai took their first lead of the game. Despite some late threes from Worth and Keilley, foul trouble caught up to R2R and Kodra Kai went into the bonus early. Worth eventually fouled out and Kodra Kai put the game away at the free throw line. Kodra Kai advances and will meet Cundall’s team in the semis
