Opening night we had a matchup of a hungry SAUS team and a hungry Wolf & Co, who are returning after taking the fall season off. It was a fast competitive game to start as W&C would open up the game with a 10-6 lead in the first 5 minutes. They got some great minutes from Patrick Heffernan as he had 3 points, 5 boards and 2 asts at this point of the game. SAUS full team started to trickle in a little after the game had started. In the next 8 minutes after the 10-6 lead for W&C, SAUS went on a 14-6 run to take a four point lead. Chin Kuo was doing it all scoring as he had 13 points of SAUS’s 20! He hit 3 threes. SAUS didn’t have Chin last season, could he be the difference maker to take them over the top? The last 7 minutes of the half both teams went back and forth and the half would end at 26-23 with SAUS in the lead. Chin lead all scorers with 13 and Patirck had 7 for W&C.
The second half of the game was all SAUS.Griffin Haas just took over the game. As he only had 2 points in the first half but went off in the second. He was hitting a lot of tough lay ups of off some isolation plays. SAUS was a team having fun out there and W&C was started to look like a team that took the fall off! SAUS was up 42-34 with 11 minutes to go, but the score didn’t do it justice as SAUS was dominating the glass on offensive side getting many second chance opportunities. After, SAUS would go on a 15-3 run!! A great first game for SAUS. W&C had a lot to build off of the first half but couldn’t put two good halves together and come up short 61-40. It was a great first game to start the night and excited for both teams to play again as I feel like W&C will play better, they just need to get some games in and some momentum. As for SAUS it looks like they are ready for their revenge tour!
